BURGLARIES – STRATFORD ST MARY

Dear Resident,

This leaflet is to raise awareness of the current spate of burglaries that have occurred in our village and other villages local to us.

To date, there has unfortunately been three break ins in our village: two in Higham Road and one in Strickmere, plus a vehicle broken into in Lower Street.

Police are urging members of the public to be their EYES and EARS and “See it, Hear it, Report it” Also look out for each other, keep an eye on neighbours properties. (eg pull their bin in on bin day if they’re out all day)

Some tips can help you to reduce your chances of becoming a victim of burglary.

1.  LOCK IT- obvious, but make sure you keep doors and windows locked, even if you are at home.  Lock back or side gates.

2. LIGHT IT – leave low energy lights on in the house, or a radio during the day to make it seem someone is home.

3. HIDE IT – make sure you keep valuables, jewellery, passports, cash etc in a safe.

ALWAYS CALL 999 IN EMERGENCIES, OR IF AN IMMEDIATE POLICE RESPONSE IS REQUIRED.  FOR NON URGENT CRIMES CALL 101.

LETS TRY AND LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER AS A COMMUNITY.
